Those moments in life when you just can’t win

About a week and a half to two weeks after launching this site, my father-in-law fell. From there, it was a week and a half in the hospital, another week and a half in rehab, and about a week with us at our home. While he was staying with us, we were also moving him and my mother-in-law out of their apartment because he could no longer use the stairs.

In the midst of all this, I still had a special needs daughter at home to care for, and my oldest daughter was coming home from college at the same time. Needless to say, it was a lot, and it didn’t stop there. Three days later, Birkley, my daughter with cerebral palsy, got sick, and it lasted over a week and a half.

Between all these challenges and holes, I worked on Just Like Mom, but with a full-time job as well, it wasn’t easy, and it’s still not easy.

I know we all go through these moments, and of course we want to be there for our family but it was just another reminder of why I started Just Like Mom. Life doesn’t stop. We need this! We, as parents and caregivers, are juggling a lot, we work hard, and to keep us from breaking down constantly, respite is so needed!
